The 9 Books I Read in 2025
Well, well, well, if it’s not another year with another missed reading goal. I thought I would do the whole 25 books in 2025 thing (I know, basic) but I only managed to finish 9.
Some would wonder why I bother setting a goal, if I keep falling short of it (myself included). But, I still think I read more by having a goal set and by tracking what I’ve been reading. Also, I’m really just a girl who loves a good goal and a way to check things off a list.
And did I set a goal to read 26 books in 2026? Of course, I did! To be fair, I’m off to a pretty good start and have already finished 3 books this year (only 23 days in). So, so far-so good.
While I do think setting a reading goal helps me read more. The biggest thing that helps me read more than I ever have is my Kindle.
For years, I was so resistant to this idea, I was sure I would miss turning those pages and feeling a book in my hands. Turns out, I don’t really. And while I still love a good browse through a book shop and picking up the occasional book; I haven’t actually read an actual book from start-to-finish since I got my Kindle.
I have the Kindle Paperwhite which is perfect for all the places I read the most…like the bathtub, in bed with the lights off, or on the beach (with no glare).
The other thing that helps me read more is borrowing digital books through my local library using the Libby app. I mean who doesn’t love free books?
So while this list was a little short this year it was full of good reads, there were a few books that I really loved!
It’s always so hard (more like, impossible) to pick a favorite book from the year, but if I had to pick, I would probably say The Briar Club by Kate Quinn. I also really loved The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros and The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. All historical fiction, definitely no big surprise there.
If you want to follow along with what I’m reading and see how I rate each of the books, you can follow along on Goodreads.
So, here they are….the 9 books I read in 2025.
