The 19 Books I Read in 2021

Is reading on your list of things you’d like to do more of this year? Well I’m with you. For the past few years I have used Goodreads to set a reading goal. In 2021 my goal was to read 22 books. I know, I know why not 21 books right? What can I say, I felt like I could fit an extra book in there. Unfortunately, I fell a little short and only got through 19. I think that the fact that a few of the books were nearly 700 pages played into that a bit.

And while I know there are a lot of people out there reading much more than 20(ish) books a year this amount feels like a really reasonable for me personally and much more than I had ever read in a year before setting a goal to hold me accountable. Basically, if you want to read more this year I completely recommend the Goodreads reading challenge.

If you want to see how I rated all the books I read this year and keep up with what I am reading now follow along with me on Goodreads.

Another thing that has helped me read more these past few years is finally investing in a kindle. For years I resisted and was a strong believer that physical books are the “real deal” and should never be replaced but I finally tried out a kindle and haven’t looked back since.

I actually use this Kindle Fire since I like to keep my devices limited (this one doubles as a tablet and a way to watch Netflix in bed). I will say on a sunny day there is some glare, I have gotten quite used to it but because I use it so often and also thinking of getting Kindle Paperwhite.

When you scroll through this list you will probably notice that I read a lot of historical fiction and a good mix of fantasy type books. To be honest, usually after reading some often heavy historical fiction I need to switch it up with a complete escape into a fantasy world. I really loved some of these books a few of my favorites were: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo; The Great Alone; The Alice Network; and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.

So here they are…the 19 books I read in 2021
