Every year the big paint companies come out with their color for the the upcoming year. Essentially, it is their prediction on color trends for the year ahead. And while I’m a big advocate for not chasing trends for the sake of chasing them, when it comes to home design, I still get excited every year to see what colors make the list.
Overall, I’m loving the general trend for the year which tends to lean toward warm and earthy tones (my absolute favorite). I thought it would be fun - and hopefully helpful - to share a few of the “big brands” and some ideas on how I would use each of them in a space.

2027 Paint Colors of the Year (and how to actually use them in your home)
Behr’s 2027 Paint Color of the Year - Grounded
I’m starting with probably my favorite one on the list. Grounded by Behr is an olive green color with warm brown undertones. This color is so similar to another Behr color (Aged Olive) that I have had on my walls for years and it really feels like such a perfect, cozy, neutral paint color. These shades tend to vary so much based on the light so it will likely shift from looking more green to brown as the day and light shifts.
Out of this list of colors, I also think this is likely the shade easiest to incorporate into most homes.
How to use Grounded by Behr?
Pair with warm neutrals, think natural textures, leather, and warm wood tones
Balance the darker tones out with warm neutral fabrics and other warm white paint colors
This color works well in most spaces, especially living rooms and bedrooms
Living room design ideas using Grounded by Behr
If I were designing a living room using Grounded by Behr, I would be sure to include some warm leather tones, like this chair. I would also include warm wood tones (like this table) to keep things feeling natural and earthy. You can shop this entire living room design here.
Benjamin Moore 2027 Paint Color of the Year - Webster Green
I’m forever here for the green tones. And while, Webster Green isn’t quite as earthy as some green tones I personally love, I think this color would look so good in an office space. I think it would particularly work well color-drenched (i.e. painting walls, ceiling, and trim all the same shade). Alternatively, it could work well with just the trim and ceiling being painted in the Webster Green and a warm white on the walls.

If I were designing an office space using Webster Green by Sherwin Williams I would include a floral rug like this. I’d also be sure to incorporate warm wood tones, like this desk and plenty of natural textures (wood and rattan) like this light fixture. And of course, plenty of plants. This green tone just calls for plants.
Sherwin Williams 2027 Paint Color of the Year - Celery
This yellow-green shade just feels so nostalgic. Like, literally - I think my grandparent’s late-60’s bedroom was painted in this exact shade. So not surprisingly, I personally think that Celery by Sherwin Williams would work really well in a bedroom. Particularly, if you like that cottage-core, eclectic feel. More traditionally, this tone could also work well in a bathroom or kitchen.
